The Paaszeiltocht on the Wadden Sea is the perfect way to spend the long Easter weekend. Three days of sailing aboard the historic clipper Johanna Engelina from Harlingen, bound for the Wadden Islands of Terschelling and Vlieland. The Paaszeiltocht is ideal for families with children, couples and anyone who wants to spend a long weekend enjoying the Wadden Sea and the Wadden Islands. By day we sail across the Wadden Sea, visit the islands and, weather permitting, run aground on a sandbank — a unique experience out in the middle of the mudflats. The highlight for the children? The Easter Bunny has hidden a few eggs out on the mudflats between Harlingen and Terschelling! During the Paaszeiltocht we set off in search of these hidden treasures. An unforgettable Easter adventure for the whole family. Aboard the Johanna Engelina everything is taken care of. Our experienced cook prepares every meal, from a generous breakfast to a delicious dinner. Coffee, tea and buttermilk are available throughout the day. Duvets and towels are provided — all you need to bring is yourself and your good mood. Skipper Laurens and the crew make sure the Paaszeiltocht is safe and convivial. No sailing experience is needed: everyone can lend a hand hoisting the sails and taking the helm, but simply relaxing on deck is just as welcome. The Paaszeiltocht aboard the Johanna Engelina has been a much-loved outing for years among families who want to celebrate Easter in a special way. Book early — places are limited!

Frequently asked questions
Can the events be booked individually?
Yes, every event and trip on this page can be booked per person on fixed dates. You share the ship with other guests — and that is exactly what makes the atmosphere on board so special.
What does running aground on the Wadden Sea mean?
Running aground means the ship settles onto a sandbank in the middle of the Wadden Sea at low tide. You can then literally walk across the seabed, go beachcombing for tidal treasures and spot seals — a unique experience on the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea.
Is a sailing event suitable for children?
Many events are aimed specifically at families, such as the Waddenzwerftocht (pirate week) and the Paaszeiltocht. Special rates often apply for children. No sailing experience is required and the crew takes care of safety on board.
