Why your support is crucial
Maintaining a large ship like the Johanna Engelina is a labour-intensive and financially costly undertaking — especially if you want to honour its cultural and historical character. On top of that, we want to leave behind the smallest possible footprint. After all, with this ship we live off nature and enjoy it every single day.
25 years ago I bought the ship as its 5th owner. Ever since, every euro earned has been reinvested. In that time I have built up a circle of around 80 enthusiastic Johanna Engelina sailors. Sailing the Johanna Engelina means slowing down — but also sailing the ship together as a group. Days on which social media takes second place, on which we cultivate an awareness of nature and the environment and learn age-old maritime crafts. None of this must be allowed to be lost.
