The Juttersweekend on the Wadden Sea is a unique sailing adventure: running aground on the mudflats and discovering the treasures of the seabed. From Harlingen we sail aboard the historic clipper Johanna Engelina to a carefully chosen spot on the Wadden Sea. The Juttersweekend is all about the incredible richness of the Wadden Sea. At low tide we run aground and you can literally walk across the seabed. On the exposed mudflats you set off exploring: shells, starfish, cockles, oysters and other treasures of the flats. Skipper Laurens knows exactly where the best spots are — he has been sailing these waters since 1999. What makes the Juttersweekend so special? The combination of sailing across the World Heritage Wadden Sea, experiencing the rugged nature of the flats and the culinary pleasure. Our experienced cook turns the day's catch into a delicious meal aboard the Johanna Engelina. Fresh tidal-flat produce straight from the mudflats onto your plate — you won't taste that anywhere else. The Juttersweekend is held twice a year: in spring (May) and in autumn (September). Both editions have their own charm. In May the Wadden Sea awakens from winter; in September the skies turn golden above the mudflats. Aboard the Johanna Engelina everything is taken care of. All meals, coffee, tea and buttermilk are included. You sleep in your own cabin with duvet and towels.
