Blowing away the cobwebs, relaxing, making the most of the spacious deck or lending a hand hoisting the sails, and… visiting, for example, the age-old fishing village of Volendam. Those are the ingredients of a day trip. Volendam is and remains an unforgettable experience for everyone! There is a reason the old fishing village is visited by millions of tourists every year. Eel and Volendam are inseparable. On this outing you enjoy the water and wind aboard and get a tour of a Volendam eel smokehouse that is second to none. An unforgettable day for young and old! But a visit to Hoorn or Marken is just as possible. How about the Marker Wadden or the fortress island of Pampus? As long as the sailing time is not too long, a great deal is possible. Consider a sailing barbecue, too. In short, there are far too many options to list. Before you step aboard, there has often already been plenty of discussion about how to fill the day itself. The possibilities are endless: race sailing, visiting a nearby town, a day of simply sailing, or various combined activities are all on the table. At 10:00 you are welcomed aboard. From the departure harbour we set course for the IJsselmeer or Markermeer. Right after lunch we might moor in the harbour of Volendam, Hoorn, Medemblik or Stavoren, where you can take a stroll at your own pace. At 18:00 we moor back up in the harbour.

Frequently asked questions
How many people can join on the Johanna Engelina?
On a day trip there is room for up to 53 people. On multi-day sailing trips with overnight stays the ship accommodates up to 33 people (31 with catering aboard), spread over 10 cabins with hot and cold running water.
Which harbours does the Johanna Engelina sail from?
In the summer season (May–October) Harlingen (Nieuwe Willemskade) is the home port; in winter (November–April) it is the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam. On request, Enkhuizen, Hoorn, Muiden and other harbours are also possible.
Do I need to know how to sail to come along?
No. Everyone can pitch in with hoisting the sails and taking the helm, but simply relaxing on deck is just as welcome. Skipper Laurens — who has sailed the Johanna Engelina since 1999 — and his crew handle all the sailing tasks.
How is the route of the sailing trip decided?
The route is put together with skipper Laurens based on the weather, the wind and your wishes. Options include the IJsselmeer and Markermeer with historic harbour towns such as Volendam, Hoorn and Medemblik, or the Wadden Sea with Terschelling, Vlieland and running aground on a sandbank.
