A weekend sailing trip on the clipper Johanna Engelina is the perfect short holiday on the water. Three days of sailing across the IJsselmeer, Markermeer or Wadden Sea — ideal for clubs, associations, families, friends or companies. On Friday evening at 20:00 you board in Harlingen and get to know skipper Laurens, the ship and the crew. You spend the first night aboard in your own cabin. On Saturday morning, after breakfast, we set sail. Along the way you can sail along actively — hoisting the sails, taking the helm — or relax on deck with a view over the open water. After a wonderful stretch of sailing, you moor at the end of the afternoon in a historic harbour town: West-Terschelling, Oudeschild, Stavoren, Volendam, Marken or Muiden — depending on the route. On deck you enjoy a drink before sharing the ship's meal together. Afterwards there is plenty of time to explore the town. The route of your weekend sailing trip is put together with skipper Laurens based on the weather, the wind and your wishes. The IJsselmeer offers endless possibilities: historic harbour towns, the Markermeer with Pampus and Marken, or the Wadden Sea with its islands and tidal sand flats. All meals are included: breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus coffee, tea, buttermilk, soft drinks, beer and wine. Our experienced cook prepares everything fresh aboard. The ship accommodates up to 33 people on multi-day trips, in authentic ship's cabins. On Sunday morning you sail back to the harbour of departure, where you moor around 17:00. A weekend sailing trip on the Johanna Engelina is an unforgettable experience — whether you sail along actively or relax on deck.

Frequently asked questions
How many people can join on the Johanna Engelina?

Which harbours does the Johanna Engelina sail from?
In the summer season (May–October) Harlingen (Nieuwe Willemskade) is the home port; in winter (November–April) it is the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam. On request, Enkhuizen, Hoorn, Muiden and other harbours are also possible.
Do I need to know how to sail to come along?
No. Everyone can pitch in with hoisting the sails and taking the helm, but simply relaxing on deck is just as welcome. Skipper Laurens — who has sailed the Johanna Engelina since 1999 — and his crew handle all the sailing tasks.
How is the route of the sailing trip decided?
The route is put together with skipper Laurens based on the weather, the wind and your wishes. Options include the IJsselmeer and Markermeer with historic harbour towns such as Volendam, Hoorn and Medemblik, or the Wadden Sea with Terschelling, Vlieland and running aground on a sandbank.
